You are heading for a colorful adventure, a journey of discovery in one of the most fascinating islands in the world. Fun and yet educational, a party for the children but also relaxed and interesting for 'the mamas and the papas'.

The selection of the attractions is mainly based on where Cuban parents would take their children. They are endearing and disarming and radiate with pleasure.

Insider's tip
• Don’t underestimate the UV-radiation, especially around midday, early afternoon. Particularly if there is a breeze, one gets easily sunburned. • Most casas are willing to cook for you, against a fee of course. Would you like to experience a homemade meal? Confirm it with your host family the same morning during breakfast. • Realize that the Internet is limited and slow and there is no McDonald’s. Almost every Cuban child has grown up with rice, often chicken, black beans and always bananas, which are available all year round. Does your child love peanut butter or Nutella? Better bring it with you from home. • Local circumstances may cause a change of accommodation. Think of overbooking or temporary closure. In that case accommodation of the same standard will be booked. • With regard to the Cuban projects for and by children, the aim is an interaction between all children. In case certain activity has been programmed during school hours, an alternative may have to be found. The mentioned community projects are therefore subject to change. • The program may also be subject to changes due to local conditions such as closures due to repair work, weather and road conditions, etc.

Day 1: Day 1. Arrival in Havana

  • Meet & greet with our representative on arrival at Havana International Airport.
  • Private transportation to the city of Havana.
  • Overnight in Havana in a Casa Particular
  • Meals: Meals are not included on this day

    • Havana
    • No meals included today

You will have breakfast - usually with a lot of fruit - in the home of your Cuban host family.

Next, together with your guide you will explore Old Havana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Old Havana is an exciting maze full of cozy squares, lively alleys and a few ancient forts that were built to protect the city against pirates.

The most beautiful fossils, rare natural finds and stones can be seen in the Natural History Museum, with often interactive workshops for children and families.

Lunch is in the chic opera house of the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso. It looks very elegant, but the casual atmosphere makes you feel at ease.

Plaza Vieja is a beautiful open square. Cuban children cross the plaza on their way to school or to their home, wearing their ironed school uniforms.
The square's tallest building came up with something funny, the Cámara Oscura. Climb the 35 meters, and then look around to see all Havana’s corners. But what will happen if you look up? There is an inverted telescope completely covered with mirrors. You will see everything that happens below, a fascinating sight, the world upside down.

After this we will go to La Maqueta, also a nice way to see Havana, the way a bird would see it. Havana in miniature but still 48 m2. It took three years to realize this detailed project with light and sound effects.

In the nicely renovated botanical garden (Jardín Botánico) you will find plants which you might have seen in interiors at home, such as the yucca, but here they can be 100 times higher. Cuba has a wealth of flowers, trees and the most beautiful orchids in more colors than the rainbow.

Your beds are made in your casa, sleep well!

  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch are included

    • Havana
    • Meals included: breakfast and lunch

Your breakfast will be served in your casa.

Today, it will be a kind of animal day. First, in the morning the Havana’s Zoo. It is one of the most favorite places where Cuban parents take their children.

Lunch is not included, choose where you would like to enjoy it.

Ángeles del Futuro (El Niño y La Niña) is a special community project. It is a children's circus school, founded in 2007 for and by children from 9 to 17 years old. Future circus artists are trained in the field of dance, theater as well as acrobatics, clowning, juggling, balancing, etc. The project counts about 85 members from almost all neighborhoods of Havana. Richer parents pay more, poorer parents pay less. All children, regardless the family income, can feel like a star in the circus arena.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit the National Aquarium of Cuba. The fish are even more colorful than the orchids of this morning.

The show is rather touching with dolphins at 4 pm and with sea lions at 5 pm. One thing is for sure. Many children probably have seen a more spectacular dolphinarium but these dolphins have never seen such a nice children.

Back in your casa. The host family is waiting for you.

  • Meals: Breakfast is included

    • Havana
    • Meals included: breakfast

After breakfast, having said goodbye to your hosts, an airconditioned private taxi or minivan will pick you up. It is a 2-hour trip to Guamá, in the south. Without WIFI probably. Internet is limited and slow in Cuba.

We continue to the shores of Lake Laguna del Tesoro; Treasure Lake. You will navigate to Aldea Taína Guamá by boat. It is a wetland area with islands, swamps and mangroves. A native village has been recreated the way it must have looked in 1500 until the Spaniards conquered the country. You see the houses, the bridges, which they tied together with natural materials. Everywhere are statues of the original habitants performing their daily activities; hunters, fishermen, cooks, mothers with children.

Criadero de Cocodrilos, the crocodile farm, with ten thousand animals the largest in Cuba comes next.
Lunch is at a local restaurant.

Before you hit the road again, we will make a stop at the ‘Theater forest’ (Teatro del Bosque), a local center in the Ciénaga de Zapata where local children take courses in mainly drama, dance and singing.

On the way to your next casa particular in Santa Clara. A two hours’ drive by car as well. Would you like to have dinner in your casa? Please, ask your guide to call your hosts on time.

  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch are included

    • Havana
    • Santa Clara
    • Meals included: breakfast and lunch

First, we will show you Santa Clara during a city tour, to be continued by perhaps the most important place in the history of the Cuban Republic. Just outside Santa Clara, where the last battle of the revolution took place, is the mausoleum of El Che.
At the end of 1958, Che Guevara and his Guerreros blew up a train full of ammunition intended to destroy Fidel Castro's headquarters. The train remained in Santa Clara, as a tribute and monument. A bizarre sight such a ferocious train in the landscape, although impressive.

We have selected a local restaurant for you for lunch.
If there is time, we will stop on the way in the town Caibarièn to visit a Cuban community project.

A 50 km (31 mi) long elevated dyke road will bring you to Cayo Las Brujas, a key, although today connected with the northern mainland. After check-in, you have earned total relaxation.

In hotel Dhawa everything is included, your dinner, drinks, swimming pool, children's activities.

  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch are included. After check-in at the all-inclusive Hotel Dhawa all further consumptions are included.

    • Santa Clara
    • Cayo Las Brujas
    • Cayo Santa María
    • All Inclusive
    • Meals included: breakfast and lunch

Free all day. Lazing around, the children in the pool, there is a lot you can do in the all-in resorts in Cuba.
Hotel Dhawa has only a small disadvantage. The beach is quite a walk (approx. 1 mile) but you can probably hop-on a golf cart. On the other hand, there is a lot of luxury and fun: Four swimming pools of which two are for children, sport accommodations, entertainment with traditional folklore shows. Under the guidance of professional staff there are many activities for kids: Playrooms, children's club, board games, dance lessons, beach volleyball and water fun, pool games, aqua aerobics, kayak or catamaran sailing.

Of course, there are also sun loungers with parasols if you just want to do nothing in the shade. For those who have missed the burgers and French fries, there is a 24-hour snack bar together with an international buffet restaurant. Or try a Cuban-style barbecue in one of the restaurants with a menu.

Meals: All meals and further consumptions are included

    • Cayo Las Brujas
    • Cayo Santa María
    • All Inclusive

Have a hearty breakfast and prepare some sandwiches to take with you. It will be the longest drive of the entire trip. It takes around four and a half hours. However, air conditioning, straight roads and a driver who knows the way.

In Havana, a casa particular has been reserved for you for the last night. After an intensive although interesting week in Cuba, you yourself know best what to do this last day. The Malecón is always beautiful, especially at sunset. Many Cuban families also go there. Settle on a terrace or in a paladar in the car-free center of this fairy-tale city.

  • Meals: All meals and further consumptions are included until check-out.

    • Havana
    • Cayo Las Brujas
    • Cayo Santa María
    • All Inclusive

Your breakfast is included, so is your private transfer to Havana's international airport José Martí. The day is yours. To pack your bags, to relax or to spend the last CUCs on souvenirs or on something else.
