Hotel Villa Guamá
With around 50 wooden huts of thatched roofs built on stilts above the water, Villa Guamá is a splendid place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy your days in harmony with the lovely natural environment. Motor boats that depart every half hour take you to the huts in a 10-minute trip through Laguna del Tesoro, or Treasure lagoon.+ Read more
Close by, visitors can visit a reproduction of a Taino Indian Village, with a group of life-size sculptures going on their everyday business. The sculptures were made by one of Cuba’s most important Cuban sculptors, the late Rita Longa.
In addition to water sports, this place is ideal for bird watching. Many species live in the swamps. Our customers recommend guided tours that can be booked at the installation itself.
Villa Guamá is situated on islets within the Laguna del Tesoro, located in the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, in the province of Matanzas. This is Cuba’s largest lake, covering 16 square kilometers.
As in any natural paradise, you will need a good mosquito repellent. Remember that you are in a swamp.
