Many historical rooms have provided accommodations for a wide array of glitterati including Winston Churchill, Ava Gardner, Frank Sinatra, Jorge Negrete, Marlon Brandon, Rita Hayworth, Robert Redford, Johnny Depp, Robert de Niro, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Gabriel García Márquez, the Prince of Monaco, Roman Polanski and Alexander Fleming, just to mention a few.
The hotel’s former casino served as a meeting between the U.S. and Sicilian Mafia in 1946. This meeting is depicted in Francis Ford Coppola’s film “The Godfather Part II.”
Exclusivity is the rule, not the exception
The superior category of the hotel is owed to the quality of its rooms. For example, the Royal Suite on the eighth floor has three bedrooms with bath, living room, dining room for eight and a sea view. The Presidential Suite on the second floor ensures its guests’ privacy and all the luxuries of the most refined taste: spacious bedrooms, a huge living room, its own office, a dining room for eight, three bathrooms and a terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The pièce de résistance of your stay is provided by the Parisién Cabaret, one of the most famous of its kind in Cuba.
You will be sharing the bars and cafeterias with some local and international celebrities. The best Cuban music can be enjoyed on the hotel gardens every Sunday night. It is the perfect venue for your wedding or for a fairytale date, with the Malecón and El Morro, two of the most famous Havana landmarks, serving as a romantic and exotic backdrop.
You can choose to have the Apartamento de La República or the Salón 1930, with all of their impeccable services, be the location of your business meeting or conference.
And finally, try and take some time to take a dip in the hotel’s original swimming pool, the very same pool that Johnny Weissmuller, the most famous Tarzan in movies, inaugurated in the 1930s.
If this hotel didn’t exist, a vital part of Havana would be missing. It is just one block from Vedado’s Calle 23, the thoroughfare that never sleeps. People call it the street of the movie houses because of its numerous cinemas.
