Close to Galiano and San Lázaro streets, the best place to watch regular Habaneros carrying on their daily activities, the Deauville gives you access to the Havana we see in Cuban films.

Marvelous buildings showing the ravages of time, neighbors playing dominos and, especially, the laughter of the locals…that’s what you will see. A number of Cuban filmmakers have trained their lenses, time and time again, on the magical atmosphere of this area: Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (Titón) in his Fresa y Chocolate, or Fernando Pérez in Suite Habana and Últimos días en La Habana. In 2016, a sequence of the US action movie “Fast and Furious” was shot in this same neighborhood. You can easily walk all over or better still take it all in from the hotel’s terrace on the 14th floor.

Old Havana and its Historical Center are a mere 5 to 10 minutes away on foot.

You can relax and not spend a fortune

With a refurbished exterior and updated rooms, and live music every night in the Lobby Bar, the Deauville is also a hotel where you can relax. Its pool on the 6th floor lets you see a different landscape while you take a breather. In the Costa Norte Restaurant, with elegant tables facing the sea, you can dine à la carte or partake of the abundant and varied breakfast buffet. The hotel also possesses a garage and a meeting hall, access for persons with reduced mobility and…it’s a budget hotel.

The Centro Habana District is a city in transition between the ancient and the modern. Various cultures intermingle there: Spanish (several Spanish associations preserving Old World traditions have their headquarters here), Chinese (Havana’s Chinatown) and Afro-Cuban (especially the picturesque Callejón de Hamel). Another must place to visit is the San Rafael Boulevard, a pedestrian mall frequented by hundreds of people every day going about their business.

  • Ideal for travelers looking for reasonably priced accommodations
  • Excellent if you want to discover the most authentic side of the capital
  • Impressive views of the sea

CTN tip

If you are a keen photographer, you can’t miss taking great shots of the Malecón and the city from the rooftop. The best time is when the sun is starting to set, around 6 pm.
