The following is a list of events sponsored by Cuba Travel Network in 2016:
World Festival of Countertenors
From the Office of the Composer Leo Brouwer, a huge promotional effort has been launched to highlight the best music, singers and instrumentalists on the island, and in the world. On this occasion, the Leo Brouwer Festival Office has organized a unique festival dedicated to countertenors from September 30 to October 8 this year. Important figures such as the Polish singer Artur Stefanowicz, the Italian Riccardo Angelo Stranno, and the American Darryl Taylor, among others, will take part in the festival along with Cuban musicians and singers where the repertoire will include classical and contemporary works.
First Design Biennial 2016
The first celebration of design on the island takes place this month with the aim of showcasing the latest creations of Cuban professionals in costume, graphic and industrial design. More than 20 galleries in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey will open to the public with exhibitions of classic and contemporary works. In addition, a theory event will be held with the participation of international creators, researchers and entrepreneurs. They will discuss public policy and the inclusion of a design ethos in the management of small and medium enterprises. The Biennial will also showcase public and private spaces crafted by design professionals in Cuba.
International Festival of Low Budget Movies in Gibara
The principal idea of the festival is to promote the work of moviemakers across the globe who work with small budgets and who wish to publicize the history, culture and reality of their own countries through film. Each year, competitions for various categories are held, national and international films are screened, and work shops, exhibitions, debates and spaces to showcase Gibareño tradition make up the highly anticipated biennial event. This year’s event marks the first festival with well known Cuban actor Jorge Perrugorría taking the director’s helm.

Havana Film Festival New York
This annual film festival, held in the United States, celebrates the work of important and emerging Cuban and Latin American filmmakers with their movies honored with awards both internationally and/or in their home countries. The event, in collaboration with the annual December International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, gives directors, actors and producers are a chance to meet and exchange ideas and expand on the multicultural experiences of the American continent to deliver new movies to a diverse cinema-going audience.

Festival Havana World Music
This event, staged for the third time in the Cuban capital, is devoted to the cultural values and diversity that characterize Cuba, and especially Havana. These core characteristics will be demonstrated by the music bands that will play Havana during the festival between 24-27 March. The festival is directed by the outstanding performer and composer, Eme Alfonso.
