United Airlines History

It was Walter Varney who started Varney Air Lines (air mail service) in 1926, who also founded Continental Airlines. Airline pioneer William Boeing initiated his own airline and started buying other flying airmail companies such as Varney Airlines and founded in 1929 United Aircraft and Transport Corporation (UATC). United Airlines claims to be the oldest commercial airline and claims as well the introduction of the first stewardess, when hiring in 1930 a registered nurse to assist the passengers on board.
