Habana Vieja, the old colonial part of town is where you find incredible colonial buildings, fortifications, cobble stone streets and squares, museums and a wide variety of romantic hotels, mostly situated in perfectly renovated colonial mansions. All major attractions such as El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Malecón and the Capitolio are within walking distance. Havana and its fortifications were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1982.

Enjoy a coffee on Plaza Vieja, a romantic lunch on one of many terraces or a drink in one of Hemingway’s favorite bars. For the ultimate in nightly entertainment, we can recommend you book an excursion to the Tropicana Cabaret, also called “Paradise under the stars”.

A short taxi ride or long walk along the Malecón takes you to Vedado, the modern part of town where you find landmark hotels such as hotel Nacional, the Havana Libre and hotel Riviera. Vedado also is home to some great night clubs such as El Gato Tuerto and La Zorra y El Cuervo where you can enjoy some world-class Latin Jazz.

Other popular tourist areas are Miramar with its sea front hotels and the white sand beaches of Playas del Este, 27 kilometers east of the capital.  [less]
